Ctrl reloads or opens my home page?

I have 7.0 and xp, when I am in Word or any application and I hit the ctrl key it opens up Internet explorer. When I am on the Intenet when I hit the ctrl key it refreshes the page to my home page. I use shortcuts extensively at work and when I get home I am driven nuts by this. Please help!!
