Will a music school rely less on my audition if I am applying as a Music Theory student?
I'm a percussionist, definitely not the best. I can sightread snare, but xylophone I struggle a lot with. But, I plan to be a Music Theory major for my bachelor's degree. I already took my first 4 semesters of theory and ear training and got straight A's. I already took my piano requirements with A's. I'm just worried about my audition, and I would hope that a college would not worry too much about my audition since I'm not a performance major, but a theory major. Does anybody know if colleges might be a little more lenient with auditions for non-performance majors? I figured that my good grades and greats letters of recommendation would help significantly. I'm just afraid I won't be able to sightread, or I'll mess up or something.
